The Story of Miladay: 60 Years in the Making

For six decades, Miladay has grown alongside Filipino families, becoming part of the celebrations, milestones, and everyday moments that connect one generation to the next. What began with Mila Dayrit’s dream has since grown into a family legacy. It has evolved into a jewelry house shaped by changing times, while staying true to the values and craftsmanship at its heart.

Dayrit Family

As Miladay celebrates its 60th anniversary, we look back at the people, places, and milestones that have shaped the house through the years—and the story that continues to unfold.

The Early Spark (From 1959 to 1966)

Miladay’s story began with love. Before the brand became known to generations of Filipino families, its roots were shaped by Mila and Ting Dayrit, whose shared vision gave the business its heart.

In 1966, Ting gave Mila precious loose pearls. From that gift came the first Miladay piece, and from that first piece came the start of a family legacy.

It was a simple beginning, but it carried everything Miladay would later become known for - a name that would find its way into the lives of generations of Filipino families.

A Name Begins to Grow (From 1968 to 1976)

In the years that followed, Miladay began to establish itself as a name in Philippine jewelry.

In 1968, the young jewelry house created the wedding rings for Fernando Poe Jr. and Susan Roces. A year later, in 1969, Miladay opened its first store at Angela Arcade in Makati.

By 1976, the brand had expanded to Ali Mall, reaching an even wider audience.

As Miladay grew, so did the occasions it became part of. Engagements, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and gifts brought customers through its doors, gradually turning a growing business into a trusted jewelry house.

Making Miladay a Home (From 1993 to 2004)

From 1993 to 2004, Miladay strengthened its place as a trusted jewelry house. As the brand expanded, it also created a more personal experience for clients looking for pieces with meaning.

The House of Miladay became a place where clients could choose jewelry with guidance and confidence. Whether they were looking for a gift, a bridal piece, or something to mark a personal achievement, the experience felt thoughtful from start to finish.

This chapter also saw Miladay look beyond the moment of purchase. Services such as cleaning, repairs, restringing, and appraisal allowed customers to care for their jewelry long after bringing it home, helping treasured pieces remain part of their lives for years to come. This chapter also showed Miladay’s commitment beyond the sale. Through services such as cleaning, repairs, restranding, and appraisal, the brand helped clients care for the pieces they hoped to keep for years.

A New Generation, A New Chapter (From 2005 to 2016)

From 2005 to 2016, the second generation began carrying Miladay into a new chapter. The values established by Mila and Ting remained at its foundation, while the brand evolved alongside changing tastes and lifestyles. Classic fine jewelry continued to define Miladay’s identity, complemented by more contemporary designs that welcomed new ideas and newer generations.

It was a period of balancing the familiar with the new—honoring the house’s heritage while creating jewelry that felt natural for a younger generation to wear and make their own.

This balance became one of Miladay’s strengths. It kept the elegance of classic fine jewelry, but also embraced pieces that could move with the way women dress and live today.

Miladay’s designs became easier to wear across different moments. A piece could feel polished enough for a celebration, but still personal enough for everyday use.

Evolving with the Times Standing Strong (From 2019 to 2024)

The years from 2019 to 2024 brought significant changes across many industries, including jewelry. Still, Miladay continued to stand strong by staying connected to what clients value most: beauty, trust, and meaning.

The years from 2019 to 2024 brought significant changes to the way people lived, celebrated, and connected. Miladay evolved with them.

Its collections continued to grow, reflecting the many occasions and expressions that jewelry can be part of—from love, faith, and family to everyday elegance and personal milestones.

The brand also continued to reimagine its stores and customer experience, bringing a contemporary perspective to a jewelry house with decades of history.

Renewed House of Miladay

Through each change, Miladay found ways to move forward while remaining connected to the foundation that brought it here.

Its collections today, such as Pearlfection, Classics, Hope, and Saga, reflect a woman’s many roles and occasions. There are pieces for love, faith, family, daily elegance, and important milestones. Some are made for quiet confidence, while others are chosen for moments that deserve to be remembered.

Through it all, Miladay continues to show that fashion can be timeless when it is guided by care and intention.

A Legacy Still Being Written

From a gift of pearls in 1966 to six decades of fine jewelry, Miladay’s story has never been defined by a single moment.

It has been shaped gradually—by the vision of Mila and Ting, by the generations who followed them, by the people who have worked alongside the family, and by the countless clients turned family who have chosen Miladay for moments both monumental and everyday.

Today, the third generation is helping carry that story forward, bringing new ideas while remaining connected to the values that started it all.

As Miladay celebrates its 60th anniversary, it is a moment to honor how far the house has come while looking ahead to what is still possible.

Six decades later, the story continues—not as a finished legacy, but as one still being written, one piece, one family, and one generation at a time.
