When we think about diamonds, most often the dazzling colorless or white jewels come into mind. But did you know that "formed deep within the Earth under extreme heat and pressure" as they say usually say, are not only these white diamonds? A lot of science comes into play as diamonds are formed. The internal trapping of non-carbon atoms or changes in pressure can result in various types of colored diamonds.

Diving a bit into the technicalities, most diamonds we see contain nitrogen or non-carbon atoms. Nitrogen is responsible for the little hints of yellow to the otherwise colorless diamonds. In the diamond color grading scale of D to Z; with D being completely colorless, Z or beyond that scale is responsible for the unlimited range of stunning yellow and brown colors.

Though colorless or white diamonds are the most coveted types of diamonds, those with little hints of yellow or even brown are also valuable as well. In fact, diamonds come in different colors, depending on how they were formed within the Earth.
